This patient in her 50s had a tummy tuck decades ago, then just a few years prior to this consultation she was involved in a motor vehicle collision and required emergency surgery. She was unhappy with the abdominal scars, both from her original cosmetic procedure and from the urgent laparotomy. Since she already had vertical and transverse scars on the abdomen, we decided to revise both scars by essentially performing a secondary fleur-de-lys abdominoplasty including tightening of the abdominal muscles (rectus plication). She was pleased with the flatter contour of the abdomen and improved appearance of the scars, as seen in the one year postop photos.
