Description
This 30 year old, 6’4” tall male patient came to the clinic following major weight loss. He successfully lost 120 pounds by changing his exercise and eating habits, and his weight had stabilized at 228 pounds. His concern was the loose skin around the trunk and lower abdomen. He underwent a circumferential body lift (also called a belt lipectomy) which removed excess skin from around the entire trunk. Drains were removed one week after surgery. He was off work for 3 weeks, then returned on light duties for another 3 weeks. Due to extensive nature of this procedure there is significant downtime, and postoperative problems (like seroma or delayed healing) occur more frequently than with less invasive operations. Most of these issues can be managed without further surgery.
