Trends in Plastic Surgery 2023

We see hundreds of patients every year requesting certain procedures. Here are some of our personal observations on the latest trends in 2023:

Breast Augmentation Surgery:

Breast augmentation is one of the top cosmetic procedures performed in North America. In recent years, many of our breast augmentation patients have opted for larger, fuller breast sizes and trended toward selecting full and extra full profiles for a more voluptuous look. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the prediction is that the pendulum will begin to shift toward a more modest size of breast enlargement. Breast augmentation is Dr. Andrade’s most requested surgical procedure; however, we perform many breast implant plus lift or breast lift procedures monthly.

Tummy Tuck Surgery and Body Contouring:

Post-pandemic, as some people gained weight working from home, many patients sought to improve their abdomen contour due to weight fluctuations. Tummy Tuck procedures combined with liposuction can remove excess tissue and tighten skin for a flatter abdomen. Liposuction of the upper abdomen and flanks can provide additional improvement to improve the shape of the abdomen and love handles.

Facial Treatments:

More people in virtual meetings have led to women and men wanting to improve the skin tone and appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Therefore, non-surgical facial treatments such as medical-grade peels and facial injectables have increased. Patients also are attracted to the lower price points of facial injectables rather than facial surgery. We feel that most patients want a more natural look regarding facial procedures. Very few opt for an augmented cheek and lip look and want to look refreshed and like themselves a few years younger. This is a realistic approach to facial rejuvenation.

Most Popular Months to Have Cosmetic Surgery

The Fall and Spring are typically busy for patients wanting cosmetic surgery. Since recovery is usually 6 weeks, patients who are looking to attend large holiday events or pack their bags to travel in the summer, October, November and March, April, and May are typically the busiest months for surgery.

Social Media Trends

Unsurprisingly, many people are guided by celebrities and social media influencers when it comes to cosmetic surgery trends. More of these individuals have become more open to talking about what procedures they had, posting before and after photos and talking about their recovery. Instagram, Tim Tok and YouTube have been driving forces behind how people want their bodies to look. Although Brazilian butt lifts have been common over the past few years, the trend is reversing, with patients wanting more natural body contouring to look more toned and fit rather than an augmented look.
