This patient had multiple benign facial moles (nevi) that she found unsightly, and she wanted them removed with minimal risk of scarring. If these lesions were excised using a full-thickness elliptical excision technique and the wounds sutured closed, there would have been scars and possibly some distortion of her facial anatomy. Therefore, we removed all of the moles by shaving them flat, using a technique called radiofrequency ablation. Within several weeks post-procedure the wounds are fully healed but the skin is still pink-red and delicate. However, as seen in the photos after 4-6 months, the normal skin tone usually returns.
