Earlobe Repair

Earlobe Repair

Dr. Andrade sees many patients who are looking to have their earlobes repaired.  The most common reasons to have an earlobe repair are patients who have had their earring tear through the earlobe.   We also see many patients who used to wear earlobe plugs and now want to get rid of the stretched tissue.

An earlobe repair can be done under local anaesthetic (or “freezing”).  It is not a big operation, but it does take time to carefully repair this area.  For earlobes that are significantly stretched out, the procedure may take 45-60 minutes to repair both sides.

Most people are happy with the outcome and problems are uncommon; however even minor surgery has a small risk of bleeding, asymmetry, contour irregularities, infection, poor scar or a thick scar called a keloid.  Very uncommonly a touch up is needed.

The York Plastic Surgery Centre is officially designated as an “out-of-hospital” clinic (as listed by the College of Physicians and Surgeons on their website).  This means that the clinic operates at a very high standard in terms of staff training, instrument sterilization, and cleaning protocols.  Whether Dr. Andrade performs major or minor surgery in his clinic, the patient’s safety is paramount.
