Breast Recon – Implants

Description

This 42 year old woman with a personal history of right DCIS and strong family history of breast cancer, underwent right sentinel lymph node biopsy, bilateral mastectomy and immediate reconstruction, using 280cc high profile anatomic silicone gel implants. The implants were inserted deep to the pectoralis muscle superiorly, and held in proper position inferiorly with a bra-like sling composed of connective tissue, called acellular dermal matrix. The postop photos were taken 3 months after surgery. The subtle, square depression in the skin around the areolae is due to a scar treatment applied to the skin and it is not permanent.
