This patient in her 40s developed significant skin laxity after having three children. Her weight was 167 lbs and height 5’3” (BMI 29.6). She had a drainless tummy tuck including liposuction of the upper abdomen and flanks, rectus muscle plication. Sequential tension wound closure was performed, which is a technique to decrease the risk of seroma formation and take tension off the healing wound, to help with the healing process. An advanced wound dressing was used, consisting of mesh plus skin adhesive (Prineo wound closure system) to cover the incision and a waterproof antibacterial outer layer (Mepilex Border Postop Ag) to decrease the risk of infection simplify her postoperative care. The dressings were left intact until her first postoperative visit, where the clinic nurse removed them for the patient.
