Description
This patient was 5’3” tall, BMI 24.6. She had a drain-free, full abdominoplasty which included liposuction-contouring of the upper abdomen and sides of the body (the flanks or “love handles”). These photos were taken less than 6 weeks postoperatively so the scars have not yet faded or softened, but they are well-positioned where they will be hidden by undergarments. Also note that by 6 weeks, most bruising and swelling has resolved. During surgery, patients are usually given a medication called tranexamic acid (TXA) both intravenously and directly applied to the wound, with the intention decrease bleeding and bruising.
