This 57-year-old woman (149lbs, 5’2”, BMI 27.2) had a drainless tummy tuck plus lipo of the abdomen and “love handles”. She had a substantial improvement in skin tone and abdominal contour. Note on the lateral views, the abdomen is much flatter after surgery but still protrudes modestly. Tummy tuck surgery only removes excess skin and adipose tissue that is superficial to the abdominal muscles. It will not completely flatten the abdomen of all patients, because any bulging due to deeper abdominal contents (organs and excess visceral fat) will not be corrected.
