Description
This female patient had a weight loss from 235 to 168 pounds under the supervision of a physician. She wanted to have as much skin removed as possible. Also notice the long oblique scar (Kocher scar) on the right upper area of the abdomen from prior open gallbladder surgery. She had a fleur-de-lys tummy tuck which involves removing a large piece of skin from the central part of the abdomen (and also from the lower abdomen, like a regular abdominoplasty). In the postoperative photo notice that the Kocher scar has been completely excised, demonstrating the amount of skin that can be removed with this type of operation. The major advantage of this operation is the large amount of skin that can be excised, resulting in a dramatic improvement in appearance. The disadvantages include more scarring on the abdomen, longer operative time, and potentially increased risk of blood loss or other complications.
