This patient in her 20s was 167cm tall, weighed 60kg and wore a 34B bra preoperatively. The breasts were small and similarly-sized but there was mild nipple asymmetry, the left side being 1cm lower. She was not concerned that this slight nipple difference would not be corrected by inserting breast implants. The implants were placed under the muscle because she was petite with small breasts, so inserting implants in a subpectoral plane provides a thicker layer of tissue coverage. This decreases the risk of visible or palpable implant rippling in the cleavage area. Although implants inserted in a subpectoral pocket have a risk of animation (implants moving significantly when the pectoralis muscles contract), the majority of my patients do not complain of this problem. She chose 240cc smooth round full profile silicone gel implants. She achieved her desired natural breast augmentation result that was proportionate to her petite body frame. This look is currently termed the “ballerina boob job” or “yoga breast implants”. The postoperative photos were taken at the 1 year follow-up assessment.
