Tummy Tuck – Slim, Muscle Bulge
This slim, healthy 36-year-old female developed loose abdominal muscles after childbirth. This bulge, called a “rectus diastasis”, did not improve several years after delivering her last child, or with abdominal exercises. She had vague discomfort but no actual hernia or functional problem. She had an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) including tightening of the abdominal muscles, called a “rectus plication”. Dr. Andrade performs muscle tightening for most patients having a full tummy tuck. In this particular case the rectus plication produced a dramatic improvement in the abdominal contour. The postoperative photos were taken 16 months after surgery. Disclaimer: Similar results can not be guaranteed since outcomes vary from patient to patient.
